1602 LCD Keypad Shield
This LCD Keypad shield fits Arduino Uno R3, R4 and Mega. It features a 16-character by 2 line blue backlit LCD display with white characters, 4 direction buttons (Up/Down/Left/Right, plus a Select and a Reset button.
The 6-pin ICSP header is brought out to the top so that you don't have to unplug the shield from the MCU board to update the firmware.
The board operates at 5V CMOS levels and uses a HD44780 compatible LCD driver IC. Without the backlight, current consumption is around 2mA.
A variable resistor controls the backlight intensity
Pin-Mapping is as follows:
- A0: Directional/Select buttons, using varying voltages to determine the button
- D4 through D7: LCD Data (LCD DB4 through LCD DB7)
- D8: LCD Register Select (LCD RS)
- D9: LCD Enable (LCD E)
- D10: LCD Backlight
Most unused signals (A1...5, D0...3, D11...13) are brought out on PCB pads.
